Glyphs

The glyphs series are early works based around a simple grid. Inspired by optical art and the graphic design of the 50s, 60s and 70s, these pieces are mainly static, but were pieced together as simple animated slideshow gifs to provide some interest and motion. The size of the grids, number of glyphs, color palette and spacing were all generated from random seed values, and chosen for aesthetic properties.

Some early works from the glyphs project can be seen here, alongside an early, ill-fated work based on fruit salad, that I felt was perhaps a little too whimsical to take a seat in the main body of my work. I think I minted one, then had a change of heart and burned the poor thing…
